tonight. good evening. i'm ama dates. president obama visited the grief-stricken community of newtown, connecticut where he met with the victims' families. he will have more on tonight's services in a few minutes. we begin with abc news reporter laura anthony live in the community still reeling from the shooting that took 27 lives. laura? >> reporter: that's right, ama. the community is still reeling and starting to heal a little bit. in the meantime we learned new information. we learned adam lanza, the shooter, and his mother who was a gunnen enthusiast. abc news has learned that she actually visited a gun range in this area on several occasions. and we learned on one occasion she brought her son adam with her. now, it is unclear at this point whether he fired any guns there. >> reporter: the grieving continued late into the night in the tiny new england village of sandy hook, a community still trying to come to grips with all they lost. in the center of town near the christmas tree, the memorial grows to the 26 people killed by adam lanza at the local elementary school two days ago
